Toevlug Centre for Substance Use Disorders  offers subsidised treatment programmes for individuals in the Western Cape who cannot afford treatment but are motivated to seek help.  The referral agent completing the application form must motivate and evaluate why the individual is suitable for subsidised treatment based on their financial circumstances.

Admission Process

To apply for our outpatient treatment programme, a professional such as a social worker, social auxiliary worker, doctor, or pastor must complete an application form.  During this process, we assess whether the individual is suitable for inpatient or community-based treatment.  Once the application is approved, an admission date is scheduled. Upon admission, our multidisciplinary team conducts a comprehensive assessment, including:

  • A pastoral assessment.

  • An occupational therapy assessment.

  • A medical assessment.

  • A social assessment.

During the social assessment, the individual develops a personalised development plan with the social worker for individual sessions.

Programme Structure

As part of our comprehensive treatment approach, individuals undergo regular urine testing, with a total of three tests conducted during their stay. We also connect individuals with available support groups in their community to ensure ongoing support and guidance after treatment.

Programme Completion

Upon successful completion, individuals receive a certificate acknowledging their achievement.
